I have spent most of the 37 years of my life constantly worried and constantly thinking about anything there was to think about. I believed that my feelings and emotions were caused by my circumstances. I thought that in order for me to have a "good day" I needed everything to go right and for nothing to go wrong. I blamed all of my problems on everything "out there" and always had an excuse. It was never my fault and I was a victim all of the time.
When these were my beliefs, I spent an enormous amount of time figuring out how to manage and control myself and manage and control others or my circumstances. And to be honest, I failed miserably all the time. I spent more time in my own head than actually experiencing my life. I can honestly say I have very few memories of my life so far. My childhood, high school and college are a blur.
There is one fundamental question that has unlocked it all for me, and can for you too, and I learned about this switch from the Three Principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought.
"Where do your feelings come from?"
This one question can give me an immediate insight as to how someone sees the world and how I saw the world at the time. If your feelings come from anything but your own thinking in the moment, than it makes a lot of sense that you need to find a way to "cope" with life. Life starts to look very stressful and scary and you do your best to muster your way through it because everything and I mean everything can look stressful.
Once I learned my feelings at any given time were caused by, and only by, my thinking in that very moment, I no longer had to manage and control myself or others or my circumstances. I now can show up with no agenda and just "see what comes up". I trust that what needs to come to my mind will come to my mind. And it all feels very organic and pure and true. No pressure, just showing up and experiencing experiences.
So ask yourself, where do your feelings come from? And when you recognize your feelings, ask yourself, where are these coming from? If they are coming from your thoughts, there is nothing to do. They'll clear when they clear and you'll come back to the present moment.
I could go on for hours but I want to keep this short so I'll end with this. There is nothing wrong with you; you are not broken; you already have perfect mental wellbeing. We all get caught up in our thoughts which takes us out of the present moment and into our heads, which can be very scary sometimes. Understand that 100% of the time your experience comes from your thinking and watch yourself start to enjoy more moments and you'll start to sense that you just feel better.
Until next time,
