The Key to High Performance

In Michael Neill's book "the space [within]" he writes a chapter called "The Key to High Performance". In there is an equation for high performance.

Most people believe in this one.

Performance = capacity + information.

We believe there is some information out there in the world we just haven't discovered yet that will bring us everything we want. If I only learn to meditate, to breathe correctly, how to handle my relationships or my emotions, all will be well in the world.

But Michael offer's a different equation.

Performance = capacity - interference.

We all have the innate capacity for perfect mental wellbeing. There is nothing wrong with us. That capacity is available to all of us when our thinking quiets down and we rest in that quiet space. Miracles happen there. The interference is the noise in our head. The constant thoughts that we aren't good enough, don't belong, there is something wrong with me that needs fixed, if I could only learn to be more like... But without the interference of those thoughts, we live in the moment and we have our mojo back. We are creative and are able to live our life with greater ease. We get to show up and just see what happens. We show up with no agenda and allow our innate capacity (our perfect mental wellbeing) to do what it was designed to do...offer us fresh thinking when the time is right.

It isn't about learning more. How many things have you learned in your life, focused on them and employed them for some time, and then ultimately stopped doing them and decided "well that wasn't the right thing and I just need to find what that right thing is that will work for me".

I'll end with this.

"We feel our thinking, not our circumstances".
