Our Feelings Are A Pointer To The Quality Of Our Thinking

"Whenever you feel fear, or despair, or hopelessness, or righteous anger, or any one of a host of variations on the theme, it's the design of the system letting you know where that train of thought is heading. It's not telling you anything about the world, or even about your capability - it's simple telling you there's nothing good waiting for you at the end of this particular train of thought."

-Michael Neill - Creating the Impossible

Think of your emotions as a barometer for the quality of your thinking. When you are experiencing stress, anxiety, worry, fear, your mind is telling you that you are misusing the gift of thought. It's telling you "hey, you are stuck in your head right now, it's time to let your thinking settle". Instead of being afraid of your emotions or having a trick or technique to help that emotion subside, just notice it and let it settle. Once your thoughts settle, those unpleasant thoughts will go away. As Sydney Banks said "you are one thought away from happiness, one thought away from sadness. The secret lies in thought".
